Plan for Failing Students

Plan for Failing Students

This plan is intended to help students who are having a hard time keeping up with their work during the pandemic and adjusting to a new way of learning. This plan is in place for the 1st 9 weeks only of the 20-21 school year.

1st 9 Weeks

·        Students will have until Tuesday, November 10th, 2020 to turn in work to be graded for the 1st 9 Weeks grading period.

·        Students who are failing after November 10th, 2020 will receive a letter from the Chilton County Board of Education notifying them of their failure and listing options they have moving forward.

·        Report Cards will be printed and distributed on November 13th, 2020.

·        Students who are failing as a result of incomplete assignments will be given until Friday, November 20th, 2020 to make up assignments from the 1st 9 weeks. The student’s grade on the assignment will be based on accuracy and cannot exceed a 70.

·        Students who continue to have a failing grade after November 20th, 2020, will no longer have an opportunity to improve their 1st 9 weeks grade and will therefore, fail the 1st 9 weeks.

Isabella's Policy for Late Work

Moving forward, the late policy for Isabella High School grades 4-12 will be as follows:
  • All work submitted on time will be graded for accuracy and will be worth full credit
  • All late work must be submitted within one week of the due date, will be graded for accuracy, and will be worth 70% credit
  • All late work received more than one week late will result in a zero for that assignment
Elementary grades K-3 will be given flexibility to handle late work on an individual classroom basis.
