Assistant Principal

I am so excited to begin my fourth year at my Alma Mater!  As a 1995 graduate of Isabella High School, I have always held dear the lessons I learned as well as the teachers, staff, and community who supported me throughout my high school education.  It was here, on this campus, where I met my now husband of almost 22 years, Daniel Gilliland.  I am so thankful that our daughters will be able to experience the same quality education, instructional environment, and access to extracurricular activities that Daniel and I were able to have many years ago.

As I begin my 21st year in public education, I look back fondly on my experiences in this great profession.  I have had the opportunity to serve as a speech-language pathologist, special education teacher, inclusion specialist, instructional coach, administrative assistant, Beta Club sponsor, Student Leadership Team sponsor,  SGA advisor, and school professional development coordinator. However, I am most thrilled that we have been chosen to partner with Franklin Covey as the first Pre-K through 12th grade Leader in Me school!  Seeing students learn the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and having them implement them in their lives can be powerful tools which lead to success not only at school but also in their every day lives.

As part of the Leader in Me philosophy, we believe in the following five core principles:

1.  Everyone can be a leader.

2.  Everyone has genius.

3.  Change begins with me.

4.  Educators empower students to lead their own learning.

5.  Developing the whole person is of utmost importance.

These principles along with the 7 habits help to drive our committment to our mission of "Growing Tomorrow's Leaders...TODAY!"  At Isabella, we want to honor the GREATNESS in all of our students.

I am thrilled to be able to serve this amazing school and all of the stakeholders again this year.  I am also excited about this school year and all of the opportunities available for our students.  Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang!
