Assistant Principal

I am so excited to be returning to my Alma Mater!  As a 1995 graduate of Isabella High School, I have always held dear the lessons I learned as well as the teachers, staff, and community who supported me throughout my high school education.  It was here, on this campus, where I met my now husband of almost 20 years, Daniel Gilliland.  I am so thankful that our daughter, Danielle, will be able to experience the same quality education, instructional environment, and access to extracurricular activities that Daniel and I were able to have many years ago.

As I begin my 20th year in public education, I look back fondly on the experiences that I have had.  I have had the opportunity to serve as a speech-language pathologist, special education teacher, inclusion specialist, instructional coach, administrative assistant, Beta Club sponsor, SGA advisor, and school professional development coordinator.  Although this is my first year as an "official" assistant principal, I have held my administrative certification for almost a decade now.  I was recently asked why I chose now, this year, to seek an administrative position. The answer is simple.  I had the opportunity to come back home.  The timing was perfect because my daughter is now involved as a JV cheerleader for our mustangs.  Until now, she was in elementary school, and I did not feel that I could juggle being a mother and an assistant principal.  Now, I get to have the best of both worlds while working for an exceptional mentor, Mr. Porter, who has given me the chance to return home.

I am thrilled to be "Back in Black" as I support our Mustangs once again.  I am also excited about this school year and all of the opportunities available for our students.  Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang!
